September 21st Group -Building a Better Body Image with Liz Irwin

Experiencing a negative body image day makes you vulnerable to using your eating disorder behaviors and threatens recovery. Doing the hard work of improving your body image is a critical part of sustaining recovery. We want to support you in that work.

At our next Recovery Skills Seminar, Liz Irwin will be leading a discussion group designed to help you continue working on this important topic.

Group Requirements: This Group is Open to the Public and Alumni

1. Must be a person struggling with an eating disorder, this group is not intended for families or support systems of those struggling.

3. Currently working with an outpatient treatment team OR have been in recovery for 2 years and have support of prior outpatient team on a PRN basis.

Group Format:

The Recovery Skills Seminars are an opportunity to help you launch into a life of balance through the development of new recovery and life skills. The groups will be didactic and interactive with a new topic chosen each month.

Recovering from an eating disorder is challenging. Not only are the thoughts and behaviors overwhelming, it is easy
to lose a sense of your self and what you want out of life. Castlewood’s Recovery Skills Seminars are designed to
provide guidance and life skills to help you pursue recovery and build a life worth living.

Each seminar will help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself while providing practical skills that give you
confidence and hope in your life direction.

Seminars are not a replacement for therapy, but are offered as a supplement to the work you are doing with a
therapist. If you desire recovery, and are medically stable, you are welcome to attend. There is no cost to attend.

Here are 4 reasons to attend our upcoming seminar on October 21st:

We discuss more in-depth the topics covered in therapy sessions to build upon and strengthen your recovery

Therapy is crucial for healing from an eating disorder and yet it’s impossible to cover all of the topics related to recovery. The monthly meetings will give you additional resources and strengthen your recovery.

We meet regularly, but not too often

You’ve got a lot going on, often meeting with multiple professionals and attending support groups. It’s hard to fit in another weekly meeting. We meet just once a month to help keep you connected to a recovery mindset without overwhelming you.

Develop an identity outside of an eating disorder

Our ultimate goal is to help you transition into a life of full-blown recovery and have an identity separate from the old patterns and behaviors. Each seminar is designed with that in mind.
